    Dual Enrollment
     

    Start earning credits towards an Associate in Art Degree (AA) or Arizona General Education Certificate (AGEC A) at Marcos de Niza HS.

     

    Rio Salado dual enrollment allows students the opportunity to earn college credit for specific college-level courses taught at Marcos de Niza during regular school hours.  Seniors, juniors, qualified sophomores and freshmen taking dual enrollment classes are eligible to enroll.

    Registration Information:

     

    1.  Students will receive registration fliers from their teachers on Tuesday, August 9th.

     

    2.  Students follow the registration steps on the RIO Flyer, print the registration packet, obtain the required signatures and attach necessary documentation.  Paperwork is submitted to the high school on Tuesday, August 30th Students will report to the library and register during one of their dual enrollment classes.

     
    3.  Please make sure you have done the following: 
      • Registered for correct course/section 
      • Registered for both semesters of your course (they only pay for one now) 
      • Have both student and parent signatures 
      • Students who have never taken a course for Rio credit must register as a new student and attach a copy of one of the following: 
        • Birth Certificate and photo ID 

        • A Valid U.S. Passport 

        • Valid Driver’s License 

        • Valid “Residency Card” if Permanent Resident

    4.  Most dual enrollment courses require a college placement test.  MdN will test students on Thursday, August 25th in the library.  Please complete the MdN Accuplacer Registration Form by August 17th to reserve a test spot.
     
    Other Registration Information
    • Students will register for both fall and spring classes at the same time.

    • Submit registration for all classes at once (not one packet for every class).

    • Registrations processed in 7-10 business days from when they turned in their

      application.

    • Students will receive an enrollment confirmation email and a postcard reminder to pay. Payment plans can be set up once this email is received.

    • Students pay online, call the cashier’s office 480-517-8080 or pay in-person at RIO Salado College. The cost is $86 (in-state) per credit plus a $15 registration fee per semester.

    • Students will be dropped if they have not paid by September 22, 2016.

    • Tuition Assistance – Students who applied for financial assistance last spring have been notified of their status.  If students applied after the deadline and met the qualifications, they were put on the waitlist but are not guaranteed tuition assistance (depends on available funding).
